Following up on the successful Push 4 moOre Fundraiser in July, we had announced the Push 4 moOre! Bike Shelter Design Contest that encouraged you to submit a unique design idea for a funky, secure community bike shelter near the Fremantle Markets.

A team of extremely talented local designers has taken this project to another level. Their idea is really innovative yet practical and well presented through their professonal illustration that captures the unique vibe of Fremantle.

“With the limited budget it made sense to use materials readily available in the local area, what better than the local bike salvage shop in Fremantle. We started by modelling with one bike frame which multiplied into a series of welded bike frames becoming trees, we then imagined them scattering in the city of Fremantle to create a forest of bike trees,” they say.

“We also embellished our bike trees with other elements that are distinctly ‘Fremantle’ in spirit, for instance; the brightly coloured knitted socks you find on some of the existing street trees, the fairy lights scattered along the heritage building facades and verandas, the bike baskets you see on the trendy bikes in Freo and the brightly coloured flowers in the local gardens. So we took these elements and combined them into something unique and interesting.”

Congratulations to Aysen, Hannah & Annika. We are so excited about this project and can’t wait to start working on it!

Stay tuned for updates…
